Four body flattering fashion trends for winter

It’s difficult to resist indulging in comforting carbohydrates when the nights start drawing in, and this can cause all sorts of anxiety in the lead-up to the Christmas party season. But you don’t have to give up completely on stodgy stews and roast dinners if you want to look great at your office Christmas party. There are plenty of fashion trends this season that will flatter your figure without the need for a crash diet.

Choose clothes with a peplum

Anyone who reads fashion magazines will know that the peplum waist is very much in fashion, and has been for the past three seasons (at least). A peplum is a frill that extends out from the waist over the hips, which can create an instant hourglass figure on even the most boxy of body types. Nipping in the waist and flaring out over your belly, a peplum is a great way of flattering your figure.

Try a jumpsuit

A great alternative to the ubiquitous maxi dress, jumpsuits are flattering and chic. If you’re self-conscious about your legs, a wide-leg jumpsuit teamed with a pair of killer heels can make your legs look longer without revealing too much. Combine with shapewear underneath (you can buy shapewear at isme.com), and you can achieve a sleek silhouette even in a clingy jersey jumpsuit.

Throw on a tailored blazer

Tailored pieces are flattering for all body types, and one big trend this season is to throw a tailored blazer casually over any outfit to add instant flair. A blazer will immediately make you look well dressed, nipping in your waist and accentuating your shoulders. Choose a blazer with one button and a V-neck for a really cutting edge look.

Choose a dress with lace sleeves

This season’s trend for lace sleeves is the perfect compromise for anyone who loves sleeveless dresses but always finds themselves reaching for a cardigan to cover their upper arms. Lace sleeves are light, giving the illusion of a sleeveless dress while hiding fleshy upper arms (affectionately known as ‘bingo wings’) from full view. Explore these flattering looks the next time you hit the high street or shop online, and you can look fashionable and flawless this winter.
